Huge amount of didactic woodblock prints were produced in Ancient China. However, the related studies are relatively scarce. The study on the didactic picture books, which are usually with more related documents, could serve as an efficient starting point when trying to understand the making of the didactic images as well as the evaluation of its effect. The Yangzheng tujie, a well-executed book is worth of researching for its high quality illustrations. This study can also relate to my first didactic prints study—the research on the Dijian tushuo and thus comprises two isolated studies into a more rewarding research. This project is not only a research on Ming woodblock printed books, it will also offer another referential structure for the didactic images produced in the late Ming period.
